How do I get out of this? How do I choose to read books over watching the next episode (and then the next, and then the next…)? Is it possible? Can I go cold turkey?
The answers are to be concluded from my current experiment, not, I might add, brought on by me, but being forced onto me by one of my best friends (let's call her Eagle).
Book Experiment #1: Operation Avoid the iPad
Lasting from Monday December 15th (12:00 a.m.)- Friday December 19th (4:00 p.m.)
Why? Eagle is forcing me to stop watching my current addiction (Scandal) until Friday (the date of our marathon) so she can catch up to me.
What? For the duration of the time from now until Friday, I, Paige Jones, shall not watch Netflix on any of my devices (iPad, iPhone, TV,etc.).
What will this accomplish? Hopefully it will allow Eagle to catch up with me, and I will finally be able to get back to being my true book worm, carrying a book with me always, self.
- To not, at all costs, watch a single new episode of Scandal
- To read more than three hundred pages
- To complete my homework, each night, before ten o'clock
Now, I think I can do this. Although, I have not gone a single day without watching at least one episode of Scandal a day since the moment I started it (a week and a half ago), so we'll see.
Feel free to join me on Operation Avoid the iPad, just plug in your current addiction (that isn't reading) for mine and maybe tailor the goals to your specifications and voila! You're on board, Agent.
Wish me luck!
And good luck if you're joining me(:
